Search Engine Optimization Tutorial using Wordpress - Tutorial 1

Domain Name & Web Hosting

I have always want to write a tutorial about using Wordpress to optimize site for organic search engine traffic. I have finally get myself to do it now. I am writing this as the first Natural SEO Search Engine Optimization tutorial and I will continually update more tutorials to my blog.

I will cover the topic from basic, if you are an advanced blogger, pardon me as I am trying to make the tutorial complete.

Domain name and web hosting is the first step to set up your own website.

If you want to optimize for search keyword, it would be good if you can include them into your domain name. However, if you think domain name is too short for you to include your keyword, well, then maybe you can select a broader keyword that covers your niche.

I recommend Namecheap.com. They package comes with competitive price and so far I heard that they are more tolerant for spam complaints.

Next web hosting. If you like to have a search engine optimized Wordpress blog, you must have a self-hosted wordpress. The reason is simple, you can add the plugins in order to SEO optimize the site. You can’t do much on the wordpress.com shared hosted site.

To look for a web hosting, you must find one allow you to install Wordpress quick. Personally, I like CPanel. The installation is so simple, it comes with a user friendly “windows” based interface with fill with icons. Just click of a few button, your Wordpress blog is up and running. you can also update your blog very quick.

So, I personally have even set up multiple wordpress blogs on the same domain. The reason is simple, I used that to manage the various niche site. So, it is important you find one hosting with multiple SQL server for you to play with.

It is better to find a hosting plan that allow multiple domains, that will save you cost later one when you expand to have different blogs on different domain, you just need to pay domain name and you can always used the same hosting account.

Bandwidth and storage are another two important consideration for your hosting plan. Find one that is big enough if you are a serious blogger want to make a profitable blog.

OK, sum up, CPanel, Multiple SQL server, Multiple Domain are must. Then bandwidth and storage depends on your need.

I have a few hosting company to recommend. They all have good service and reputation. Here they are:

Hostgator
BlueHost
HostMonster

I personally do not go for Godaddy now which I used before, is that it costs me more when I expand to multiple domains and it has limited SQL server.

Ok, I will discuss about the Wordpress Setup in the next tutorial. If you have any special topic you like to be include, please leave me some comments!
